In the heat of the international debate on climate change and a sustainable future, and the large pool of conferences and related events, Springtide International wants to be different. With 50 years of experience in the field, founders Wouter van Dieren and Eric Jan Tuininga invite you step out of your daily routine and join us in inspiring surroundings to work on a Grand Design for the Future. The heart of this Design is the circular economy of Europe. The programme of Springtide International is designed in cooperation with Springtij Netherlands.

EXPERIENCE
We invite you to separate yourself from all-day’ troubles in urban backgrounds. To cross the Wadden-Wetlands by fast ferry, with seals close in sight. The lighthouse in the distance. Experience the unusual surroundings of the encounters, robust in their beauty. The midnight spell in the dark forest, with poetry and music. The unusual and highly innovative content, hypotheses, ideas, stories and sharing. Alienation and animosity disappear, new ideas and hope emerge, a social pact and new business is undertaken, and political differences are solved.

INTERNATIONAL FOCUS

Discussions and actions on a national scale are useful but have their limitations. It is common knowledge that for the issues at stake we have to look for system changes on a global scale. For us who live in Europe it is becoming more and more clear that the international (European) scale is the Platform where we can contribute the most. Where the pros and cons of many innovations and measures can be weighed in a far more balanced way than in our small country alone. Therefore the creation of Springtide International is a logic and necessary step. It will be mostly aiming at the European scale and again be based on the Paragone, the values of the Club of Rome and the Open Society principles. Its objective is to bring both the input and the output on a higher level. And the meetings will again be organised according to the proven island-based principles, also when the next venue is far away.
